What is the "Urban Boundary"?
For the purposes of planning and development, a boundary is established between Ottawa’s urban and rural areas. Among other things, this boundary delineates the areas where there are different service levels and/or methods of delivery for city services. These services include: Water, Sewer, Stormwater, Fire, ParaTranspo, and Public Transportation.
The area in white on the following map illustrates the extent of the Urban Area in the city of Ottawa:
