What does it cost to use a private automobile
There are a variety of answers to this question depending whether one is talking of Operating Costs, Maintenance Costs, or All Costs.
- The Canadian Automobile Association has a good Calculator that inputs the make and model of your automobile as well as the distance travelled at: https://carcosts.caa.ca/
- On-Line estimates of the cost of owning and operating a private are as numerous as the agencies that provide them. Some sources will cost ‘Car Ownership’ at $20/day while the Operation and Maintenance costs are separate. Car Operation and Maintenance is commonly estimated to cost between $0.60 -1.30/km.
- The Public Service personal automobile travel allowance is $0.60/km.
